Vance Powell
With two GRAMMYS to his name and an illustrious pedigree as an engineer whose career spans everything from Christian Rock to Country to Rock, Vance Powell is known for what he does best... SOUND! "I'm not a guitar player", says Powell, "but I know what makes things sounds good." Vance's most recent GRAMMY came this year for his engineering and mixing prowess on the Raconteurs' "Consolers of the Lonely" album for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical Record. Vance has an ear for sound and an understanding of how to make things work in ways that would challenge others. His continual work with White Stripes entrepreneur Jack White III has thrust him into the spotlight and stretched his creative skills to become one of the best engineers around. That stretch took him all the way out to the editing and mixing of the James Bond theme, "Another Way to Die", from the movie Quantum of Solace, written by Jack White and done as a duet with Alicia Keyes. Knowing sound as Vance does, he keeps on hand an array of pedals he believes in to throw into the mix of whatever he's recording. First seeing Visual Sound pedals many years ago when working with Jars of Clay, Vance now has a full compliment of the pedals to round out his guitar FX entourage. Visual Sound is proud to be a tiny part of the big sounds of Vance Powell!
