There are stories in life that go beyond what most consider "normal". There are people that seem almost super-human in their ability to overcome the odds against them and accomplish what most would consider, "the impossible". Given his circumstances, Doug Burris, the man and inspiration behind one of the most amazing music programs in the country, is one for the history books. Doug developed Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 28 and faced what was sure to become a future most could not imagine, and some would all but retreat from life because of. But Doug Burris is a true super hero in every sense of the word. He developed a music program for the kids of Miami Beach Senior High that would not only teach them how to rock, but transform some of them for the rest of their lives. Because of Doug's influence and example -- that if he can overcome the odds and obstacles dealt to him, they could too. Since 1972, the Rock Ensemble has produced professional musicians and songwriters, the likes of which that have gone on to successful careers. But the greater story has to be Doug's love and care for the students he sees year in and year out. Confined to a wheelchair and unable to take care of himself for the most part, his students become Doug's arms and legs. They fall in love with the one who loves them regardless of his disability. Countless lives have been impacted because of the life of this one very special man and Visual Sound is proud to support this great work by supplying the Rock Ensemble with great tone for real up and coming Rockers in the making!
