In the early stages of designing the Workhorse amps, Bob Weil visited the Eminence speaker factory and did A/B tests with every speaker they made, finally selecting four of them to bring back to the office for further testing. He also received several speakers from Celestion, including the new Seventy 80. After conducting many more A/B tests, the Seventy 80 came out as the clear choice for Workhorse amps.
It has excellent, tight low-end response, nice glassy highs, and just the right amount of mid-range for a great clean tone and it complements effects pedals perfectly. It can stand up to the huge low-end put out by the Jekyll & Hyde, while still sounding pristine and warm with an H2O. |
